Julia Margaret Cameron Award

The opening reception for the 21st Julia Margaret Cameron Awards, which recognizes women photographers around the world, was held November 21 as part of the 21st Foto Biennale at FotoNostrum Gallery in Barcelona, Spain.

Six photographs from the series, “Breathing with the Moon,” were exhibited. They were selected as the winner of the Professional Division/Black-and-White/Series category. “Breathing with the Moon” is an ancient reference to the rhythmic movement of the tide which is tied to the gravitational pull of the moon. The photographs were made on Amelia and neighboring Sea Islands—a string of more than 100 barrier islands off the coasts of South Carolina, Georgia and northern Florida. .
