means of dispersal

When I walk, I pick up things—natural objects of all kinds. I have a special interest in pods, shells, cones, samaras, fruits, husks and other unique vessels that plants and trees use to disseminate their seeds. Doing so has helped me identify what grows where, learn how to distinguish one species from another, and to better know a place. I also discovered that if you bring these objects into the studio and photograph them, a whole new world of oddities and intricacies is revealed.
