Winter Walks. In this new series (still in development) I reacquaint myself with the winter landscape in northern Georgia, where the trees drop their leaves but snowfall is seldom seen. Wild temperature swings are common and the weather is often wet. Evidence of our ubiquitous red clay abounds. My favorite days are those which are lightly overcast or foggy. I generally find them to be quiet and serene. But those sunny days that come after rains, when the air is clear and fresh, can be equally tantalizing. As long as it’s not too bitter or windy, winter days are my favorite for a slow ramble through the woods or fields.
