Amelia and the Southern Sea Islands (October 14-21, 2012)

This destination workshop offers a unique glimpse of Old Florida, including beautful beaches, some of the last unspoiled coastal wetlands on the Atlantic Coast, maritime forests filled with ancient life oaks, an exceptionally well-preserved Civil War fortification, an early 1800s indigo and cotton plantation, and an historic Victorian village.

The Sea Islands are a chain of nearly 100 low barrier islands located along the southern Atlantic Coast. The southernmost of these are located in extreme northeastern Florida, just a short drive from the Jacksonville airport. Here, you'll spend the week exploring a wide range of natural habitats and historic sites. The workshop includes a mix of classroom discussion, critique and field shoots. There will be an emphasis on nurturing photographic creativity and developing your own sense of style.
